Field Trip!

Ezzie and Bear had an exciting adventure today. They accompanied M's preschool to Petsmart! They loved being the center of attention. Literally.

There was lots of petting, and kisses, and requests to demonstrate tricks. And lots of questions about Australian Shepherds.

Bear loves to pose for pictures with M.

Ezzie was very interested in the windows full of kitties.

In sync

Today Ezzie and Bear went for a long walk. They did really well walking together on the leash! After about fifteen minutes they were both walking in sync, with the leash loose. They continued to do so for another 45 minutes! I admit, there were a couple of times when Ezzie took cheap shots at Bear to try to engage him in play (naughty girl), but she stepped right back into stride after I told her no.

Sharing is good

They both have their own sweet potato rope, but it's so much more fun to share.

Update on the pups

It has been so much fun watching Ezzie and Bear get to know each other. They are so in sync. They walk together, eat together, play together, if one gets up, the other follows. Ezzie seems to really enjoy having company. Their personalities compliment each other. Ezzie is the devious ninja dog, and Bear is the tenderhearted snuggler They can rough and rumble for HOURS. Here's a few seconds of down time:

Sew busy

My little fabric loving pup!

Today is a big day in Ezzie's life. We took home for a trial visit a little mini Aussie named Bear that lost his home in the Minot ND flood. Then he lost his sister to chemical ingestion at his next home, a farmhouse. Thankfully, he was then rescued by the Northwest Minnesota Rescue Aussie group. He is only seven months old. I came across his picture while trolling Aussie sites. He looks just like our baby Ezzie. It was love at first sight. Then when I read about his history, I just knew we had to see if things would work out. We had to see how they would get along and so they met today.

They love each other. ;)

To be continued...we are really hoping for a good match!

Baby Ezzie turns six months old!

We love Ezzie more than ice cream on a hot summer day. More than French fries with ketchup. More than I ever thought we could love a dog again. In her brief six months of life, of which only half have been spent in our home, she has an stolen our hearts and become an integral part of our lives. There is nothing quite as welcoming as being greeted by a full body Aussie wag.

Kitty loves Ezzie too, but it's harder for kitty to be open about his feelings.

Intruders Beware

Last night we saw a side of Ezzie that I didn't know existed. We were at a friend's gathering sitting outside on the deck. Ezzie was just hanging out, chilling on the deck. All of a sudden, she was on full alert. She ran to the entrance of the deck and started barking like the devil himself had just made an appearance. She rarely barks, and she never shows aggression, so we were all quite startled. Then we saw that she was barking at two people that had approached out of the darkness. There was absolutely no way she was going to allow anything sinister to happen to her people on the deck. Once we showed her that the approaching individuals were friendly people and welcome on the deck, she was all wags and kisses.

I have to say, it was a special kind of awesomeness to see how she can be very protective. It's even cooler to see that she can turn it off in an instant. I am going to feel very safe walking Ezzie at night! Aussies are the best!
