A taste of cute

I'm a terribly lazy blogger. All is well with the furballs. Cute, happy, and generally awesome.

Pretty girl Esmeralda all groomed up!

And Bear looking very handsome.

Wassuppppppp.

Best cure for the flu...a Chihuahua makes it all better.

This is how we roll in the winter. Oh the humiliation.

Beach Babies

It warms my heart to see the pups snuggling together.  They all get along so well.  Morgie has established her place in the pack; although, I'm not really sure if she's the alpha, or if they just let her think she's the alpha.  She plays with all the other pets, but each one has a different style.  With Bear, Morgie will play chase and run around the house.  This doesn't work with Ezzie  - honeybadger likes to pounce - and our little chiwala does not like to be pounced upon.  Ezzie does best one on one, and paw to puppy.  We always supervise the play and if Ezzie starts to get a little rambunctious, we rescue little Morgie and place her into protective custody.  She begs to go back for more!  Once Morgie got Ezzie in the lip.  Poor Ezz, she cried like a baby..but did not reciprocate.  Good girl!  And Simba...oh he is definitely below Morgie on the pack chain.  Whenever Morgie sees him slinking through the living room, she takes chase.  For a big guy, that crazy siamese cat can M.O.V.E!!  Even better, Simba will come back for more and it becomes a game.

Tired babies!

This year for our annual family vacation we took a trip to Alabama.   We stayed in Gulf Shores - simply beautiful.  It's well over 1000 miles away and we did it with two kids and three dogs.  They were great travelers.   The kids had a fabulous time and the dogs seemed to be enjoying themselves as well.

On the way to Alabama, we had the unfortunate experience of staying at a Motel 6 in Jackson, Mississippi.  Things always look so much more inviting in the profile on the internet!   The dogs were on guard the entire night.  We love them so much!  The highlight of the evening was when we looked up to our second floor room and saw a man knocking on our door.  If you look closely in the picture below, you can see the man.  When the man tried to open the door, we were there in a flash.  I wish I had a picture of the look on his face when we approached with Cujo and Company.  Poor guy - he was just doing his job.  He was the resident manager and while walking the perimeter, he noticed our wall air conditioner was letting off sparks.  We had wondered ourselves what this strange noise was, but it sounded like a bug zapper; we had no idea it was coming from our room.  Also the people were very interesting.  Yikes.

Guarding the mobile ranch is hard work

We found activities to do daily that accommodated both furry and non furry kids.  M spent a ton of time soaking up the sun at the swimming pool.  Unfortunately, by law, dogs are not allowed on the beaches within Gulf Shores.  We knew this in advance and had already done our homework regarding dog friendly beaches.  Fort Morgan, approximately 20 minutes away, was the perfect place for the dogs to enjoy the sandy white beaches.
Esmeralda could get used to beach life.

We found an awesome Dog Park a few miles east in Florida.  It had its own beach!!

Does it get any better?

Say wahhhh?  Not a happy camper
Everything is better from within the bag
We should have named this little dog Yoda.  Just look at those beautiful ears!!  They are so expressive; a reflection of her mood.

Morgie and M geocaching
We had the chance to do a little geocaching down south.  This is one of the hidden treasures.  If you haven't discovered geocaching, you should.  www.geocaching.com  It rocks.

Naptime - notice all three in between E and I on the cough!

We we joined the Humane Society walk and it was so much fun!  We were part of Team Memphis.  By way of background, me dear friend and her husband lost their dog of 17 years a couple of months ago.  Memphis had been with them since the day he was adopted from the shelter.  We walked and collected donations for the Human Society in his honor. Our team was awarded with most donations collected.  Yay Memphis!  Because of him there will be just a little bit more available for all the pets waiting for their forever homes.

M walked with her dance team in our city parade.  Our float was oriental themed.  The kids danced to the song Kung Fu Fighting.  Miss Ezzie walked the whole way with us and she was so well behaved.  Naturally, right?

Peninsula livin'

The summer fun continues!  We were lucky enough to have a friend that has a friend that has a hook-up on a great camping spot where our dogs could run off leash.  It's set up on a little peninsula and it was perfect for training them to stay near camp.  They even had access to a nice little man-made lake.

Look at all that running space!!

Exploring the sand pile

Another little Aussie stopped by to visit M and her friend, M.  It's a mini Aussie with a little corgie mixed in it.

A visiting Mini Aussie

Ezzie and Bear got to spend some time with Juno.  That girl has really grown!  Juno discovered that she really likes to swim.

Playing together!

Bear isn't one to jump into the lake, but he loves to go wading.
Wet Bear!

Ezzie loves loves loves the water.  Wading is for wussies!  She could spend all day just running, swimming, playing and hanging out with her people.
Air Dog!

Gonna get that bottle!

A day of fun and frolicking makes for one thirsty girl.
Tired Ezzie

The water in the lake was less than desirable.  Downright nasty from the perspective of a little girl.  It didn't stop these little girls from having the time of their lives.  This picture looks deceptively like two children on a beach.  Not so!!  It's two children on a pile of sand that's been dumped next to a natural shoreline - weeds and all.  It was actually pretty awesome because it worked great for making sand castles.  I love a vacation where both kids and dogs are occupied!
Building castles in the sand

Our friend's dog, Juno is just a little over a year old and boy o' boy does she have some puppy energy.  She's very friendly, but doesn't get the chance to interact with other dogs very often.  This weekend was great for her!  She learned a lot about running wild with the big dogs, and some very important lessons about little dogs too.  It's great fun watching five pounds of killer dog chase this pony around.

Esmeralda has a hard time expressing herself.  Do you think she was enjoying herself?  :)
Happy Camper

When everything was all said and done, we packed up and said our good-byes.  The pups had a great time, but they weren't taking any chances on getting left behind.
Don't leave me!

Isn't it fun to just be happy !!  Our camping friend has a little girl just a year older and they really clicked.  They had so much fun exploring.  We heard a lot of giggling!
